Spider-Man: Homecoming - 13 Biggest Rumours You Need To Know (July 4th)
10. Captain America Will Appear
Thanks to Chris Evans' loose lips, we have already had two separate hints that Captain America could be coming out of hiding to turn up in Spider-Man: Homecoming.
First, he and Robert Downey Jr appeared on Jimmy Kimmel where RDJ said ""We are going to shoot in Atlanta again, you and I" - Atlanta being the setting for the Homecoming set, of course.
And then Evans spoke to MTV, and was asked which Marvel Phase 3 movies he thought he might turn up in:
"Guardians would be fun wouldn't it? I mean, but that's very outer spacey. Cap's more of an earthbound guy. Maybe the next Spider-Man [movie]. You know those are going to be fantastic and I think Tom's such a great actor so that might be a fun one to pop up in."
Tom Holland too told MTV, that he'd like to see Cap appear:
"I really like Iron Man, he’s obviously my favorite. I’d like Cap to show up at some point. I think that would be really cool if he did."
Rating: 7/10
It's a tough one to call. Obviously in the Civil War comics arc (which will still affect the rest of Phase 3 despite that film being over and done with), Spider-Man was a key tactical objective, whose defection was a turning point in the War. It would make sense in that respect for Cap to try and convince Spidey to declare for him while the ideological war is still raging - even if it only amounts to a stinger cameo.
But then Spider-Man needs his own room to breathe and having Tony Stark involved already might prove to be enough of an Avengers link for Kevin Feige.
