Star Trek: 10 Embarrassing Movie Scenes That Should Never Have Been Filmed

3. Scotty Materialises In A Water Pipe - Star Trek (2009)

Scot All modern blockbusters live by some unwritten rule that demands the narrative moves at breakneck speed. The studios seem to believe that the general movie-goer is an idiot. Audiences aren't allowed to breathe because then there might be a chance that they get bored. That's why character development is replaced with things blowing up, and what should be a simple transition becomes a ''hilarious'' slapstick routine for absolutely no reason. I'm talking about the scene where Kirk and Scotty transwarp beam on to the Enterprise, while it is travelling at warp speed. They beam into Engineering and whilst Kirk is fine, Scotty unfortunately materialises in a water pipe. Not only is he in danger of drowning, but the current is also taking him towards a fan that will turn him into mince. Comedy of the lowest degree ensues as Kirk races to free him from the pipe. Scotty desperately bangs on the pipe and there is no one apart from Kirk in Engineering to help. Luckily, there is a conveniently-placed escape hatch along the way which Kirk manages to release in the nick of time. Out falls Scotty, safe but very, very wet.
