Star Trek 3: 10 Aliens That Have To Appear

4. Q / Trelane

trelane One alien I would have to love to have seen in a Next Generation movie was Q and I think there's still a lot of love for him and the whole Q Continuum. A god-like being manipulating or terrorising the crew of the Enterprise would be a whole lot of fun. In fact could you imagine John De Lancie with this bunch? It could be a lot of fun indeed. There are two ways you could use Q. 1) Its an alternate reality rebuilt so there's nothing to say humanity can't make contact with the Q Continuum sooner. The better choice would be b) - recast and reuse Trelane. Trelane was a god-like figure from the first season episode The Squire Of Gothos. (Are all the best episodes from Star Trek in season one? Perhaps) Retroactively many fans have considered that the Trelane was a member of the Q continuum in all but name, so much so that in the novel Q-Squared by Peter David, he was revealed to be another Q. Trelane quite simply would be the best of both worlds - a way to bring in Q and stick loosely with the established timeline that the original series and Star Trek: The Next Generation presented. In fact as the actor playing Trelane was older than the actor playing Q, I would get John De Lancie back. Star Trek 3 will need to be a lot of fun if it€™s going to capture the essence of the original five-year mission. This is one sure fire way to achieve that
