Star Trek 3: 10 Things We Want From Star Trek Into Darkness Sequel

1. A Calmer Pace

Star Trek Into Darkness One of my gripes with Into Darkness was that, while the relentless pace meant that it was constantly exciting and never boring, it also meant that there was little downtime to digest what we were watching. Kirk and company were constantly on Harrison's tail with little time to just soak in this world in a calm manner. It seemed clear to me that, after establishing the characters in 2009's Trek, Abrams wanted to go all-out with an action extravaganza - which he certainly does - though it arguably goes from being action-packed to outright chaotic at times. I hope that for Star Trek 3, Abrams slows the pace down a little, and gives the characters more of an opportunity to breathe, such that we have even more investment in the action when it finally abounds. Not everything needs to crackle along at a whirring speed; stick to the pace of the first film - that was sublime. What would you like to see in Star Trek 3? Let us know in the comments below.
