Star Trek 3: 10 Things We Want From Star Trek Into Darkness Sequel

2. Keep The Tone Light

Star Trek Into Darkness With a title like Into Darkness, many expected that the latest Trek movie was going to be a supremely dark, gritty take on the mythos much like Christopher Nolan's latter two Batman films in particular, which were awash in nihilistic undertones and brooding philosophy. Though Darkness might paint itself as just that, it's really on the whole a pretty light affair, boasting just enough edge that those reared on the fashionable cynicism of contemporary Hollywood will find themselves able to enjoy it. The tendency is always to "go darker", but what I've really liked about the two Trek films so far is that they fly in the face of this, wearing their goofiness on their sleeves, and cracking a joke or two along with every action beat. For the sake of tonal consistency, they should ensure to keep to that trajectory for Trek 3, as I am sure they will.
