Star Trek: 5 Awesome Movie Villain Performances And 5 That Sucked

3. F. Murray Abraham As Ru€™afo (Star Trek: Insurrection)

star_trek_250m Star Trek: Insurrection was pedestrian compared to the thrill ride that was Star Trek: First Contact. The third movie starring the Next Generation crew was a film that would have made a great two-part episode. The story about €˜eternal youth€™ was pure TNG but the tagged on action sequences felt out of place in a story that didn€™t require them. Another issue with the film is the fairly unmemorable and boring villains, the Son€™a. Having been banished from the planet that gave them eternal life, they come back to harvest the magic particles. And to hammer home to the audience that they were the bad guys, the Son€™a€™s addiction to facelifts gave them the appearance of someone suffering from major burns. They were the perfect poster-spices to highlight the dangers of too much plastic surgery. Veteran actor F. Murray Abraham who played Ru€™afo, loved the make-up and character. Unfortunately, it came across 'hammy' but not in a good way. Part of that had to do with the Son'a themselves but as the film chugged along, F. Murray Abraham's performance got more and more weird. A perfect example is the exaggerated way he says ''NOOOOOOOOOOO'' once he finds he's been beamed on board the transport ship. It's just weird.
