30. We Got No Ship
The Enterprise is just not the protected character it once was. It took seven seasons and a good portion of a movie to see the old girl destroyed in The Next Generation (the C was destroyed but not under Picard's watch) and it never happened in the Original Series (not until The Search For Spock), but the ship has been wounded gravely, put out of service and now destroyed entirely. Is nothing sacred?! There's something almost bio-mechanical about whatever the alien force is that attacks and destroys the Enterprise. The way they seem to swarm and then flock in formation suggests a hive mind: though this is not the Borg.
