55. Malachowski

Star Trek Malachowski Class
CBS

This type of ship was designed primarily for scientific exploration, as it was small and did not have much in the way of armaments. However, two such vessels took part in the Battle of the Binary Stars - the USS Clarke and the USS Sioux.

The ship was also in service in the mirror universe, as the ISS Cooper was also said to be of a similar design.

It was a simple enough vessel, with warp nacelles extending down and below the saucer section. It was compact enough not to be a big target, though it was not sleek enough to protect it from enemy fire when the time came. At least one of these vessels was a victim of the Klingons.
