Star Trek: Every Starfleet Starship Class Ranked Worst To Best

6. Crossfield

The Crossfield class was in service in the mid-23rd century in Starfleet, and was primarily designated as a science vessel. However, at the outbreak of the Klingon-Federation war, it was reclassified as a warship. While most were highly durable and quick, only the USS Discovery was equipped with the mysterious spore drive that allowed them to jump wherever they needed to, although it led to the ship's destruction.

While it was a highly advanced design, only two were seen in service during the war (the other being the USS Glenn), but were considered inferior to the Constitution class vessels. While they were quite different in design, the Crossfield was a much bigger design - specifically, the nacelles ensured that the ship was quite a bit longer than other vessels in the fleet.

It was unique in that the saucer section rotated when the ship began to move, giving the ship an undeniable cool appearance!
