Star Trek Into Darkness: 10 More Easter Eggs You Might Have Missed

9. 72

Star Trek Into Darkness Whoever decided to release the clip before release of John Harrison telling Kirk that there were "72 reasons" that he should listen to him either wanted to provoke the Trekkie fanbase, or had no idea that it was going to clue a lot of people into the inevitable reveal that, yes, Harrison is, in fact, fan favourite baddie Khan. In the final film, Harrison revealing that there are 72 torpedoes is a huge clue as to who he really is, given that in the Original Series episode "Space Seed", it is 72 crew members that Khan has in stasis, just like in this film. Given the rumours, and the very clear and memorable use of 72 in relation to Khan, this was enough for many fans of TOS to work out what Abrams had in store. If you made this connection, give yourself a pat on the back!
