8. The MC-9321 Is Part Of The Genesis Project
Again we find ourselves looking at hints towards Wrath of Khan. It's like Abrams is deliberately only giving us shreds of information to feed this particular rumour mill (you dastardly fiend, you). This time its a recently released still found by scanning the front cover of Empire magazine with the film's official app, wherein we find our main characters standing around what looks like an unmanned craft or a missile of some kind labelled MC-9321. Alice Eve's Dr. Carol Marcus is shown in the still, which could lend credit to a Genesis Project similar to the one found in Wrath of Khan. The project is a form of rapidly sped up terraforming and it is intended to be deployed upon a life-less planet or moon in order to bring life there. However, if the device is used where life already exists, that life is destroyed. Could this be the darkness the film's title is alluding to?
