9. Return Of The Crew Chemistry
One of the greatest things about Star Trek is the great ensemble cast. Film's that not only have but rely on several principal actors must cast the right people in those roles in order to achieve great on-screen chemistry. This cast under the direction of J.J. Abrams has quickly aligned itself with what I believe is the second greatest ensemble in Star Trek history trailing only the original series cast members. What I enjoyed most from the 2009 film was being able to see something we never had a chance to in any previous iteration; "how did we get here?" Granted, it happened very fast and most of the crew members were pretty much out of their league when they started in their official permanent positions but it was still entertaining as hell to watch! One of the reasons it worked so well back in 2009 was the aforementioned chemistry between the actors. From Chris Pine and Karl Urban to Zachary Quinto and Zoe Saldana, they all just had it. The best compliment I can give is that it felt like we were watching a group of people who truly enjoyed each other and that were becoming a family right before our eyes. A slightly dysfunctional family but a true family nonetheless. We must see that same great chemistry and feeling of family return if this film has any chance of besting its predecessor. From the footage I've seen and the trust I have in J.J. Abrams, I have no doubt it will be back.
