Star Trek Into Darkness Super Bowl Trailer: 4 Things We Learned

1. Star Trek Goes British?

Star Trek Union Jacks Is Star Trek Into Darkness going to be a lot more global than we originally suspected? We knew from the irresistible shots of the Enterprise crashing (a far from new story element, but one I'll certainly never tire of seeing) that San Francisco would play a significant part in the film, and in the crash sequence in particular, but there's a shot very early in the new trailer that suggests a more global focus. Though the sight of the British flags flying on the outside of a building probably indicate an embassy in America (there are few buildings in the UK that actually fly the country's colours with such pride, for fear of political recriminations), those flags are included in the trailer for a reason. Every thing in a teaser so short implies a story decision, and it might be that we see some significant British influence in the film. Is Benedict Cumberbatch a British Khan equivalent? It would certainly fit. And even more importantly, are those invasion craft above the buildings? If so, what is their origin, and who else are they carrying other than Cumberbatch's villain presumably? What did you think of the Star Trek Into Darkness Super Bowl trailer?
