2. Everyone Showed Up
Nowadays its a given that if youre going to make a Trek movie, even one set in an alternate timeline, Nimoy will end up there. That wasnt always the case. Back during the development of Star Trek: Phase II (the TV series concept that became TMP), Nimoy had expressed no desire to return to the role hed made famous. He wanted to leave Trek behind him, and move on.
Thankfully, he agreed to come back, which was great. It gave us the fully-intact family that wed come to enjoy throughout the run of TOS. Had Nimoy not been involved, the movie might still have been ok, but it would likely have not been much of a success, and the franchise would likely have ended there.
