Star Wars: 10 Awesome Announcements They Need To Make At Comic-Con

9. The Expanded Universe

Lucasfilm made the decision last year to change what is considered canon, with the majority of the Expanded Universe being wiped out. This was so the new trilogy could tell its own story, rather than be tied into old narrative, but meant that decades of novels, comics, video games etc were no longer included in the Star Wars Universe. The canon now consists of the two existing trilogies, the forthcoming films, the Clone Wars, Rebels, and the new comics and novels that are being released. With two publishing panels, there is scope for a wide discussion about the current state of the EU, and where it is likely to be headed. Plans for further comics and novels are already known, but some clue as to the direction of these, how much the Universe will be expanding, and how it all fits together would surely be welcome, especially by those fans who were unhappy with the old EU being removed from canon.
