Star Wars: 10 Best Female Characters (Of The Canon Series)

1. Jyn Erso

It's hard to hold a candle to the sheer legacy of Carrie Fisher's Princess Leia, but from an in-universe standpoint and as far as characterization and storytelling go, it's also hard not to give Felicity Jones' Jyn Erso the nod here.

Rogue One was a genuine triumph, not only as a Star Wars film that represents the best the series has to offer, but as a film in general that can easily be considered one of the best in recent years period. And its success as a story was due in no small part to its brilliant protagonist.

Jyn didn't need to be a politician, nor a Jedi, nor a member of the Skywalker family, nor even a Force user to make one of the single biggest impacts in the galaxy's history. She was just a person. A person who realized that the only way things were going to ever change was to take it into her own hands and all those who stood by her.

It was she who lead the charge when stealing the Death Star plans, which would ultimately result in a rebel victory during the Battle of Yavin. Plain and simple, she is one of the single most important and definitive heroes in all of Star Wars.

She has a complete and fulfilling character arc, making peace with her past, setting the course for her own destiny, building meaningful relationships along the way, and going out in a literal blaze of glory.

A film-loving wrestling fan from west Texas who will live and die by the statement that Return of the Jedi is the best Star Wars movie and unironically cherishes the brief moment and time when Deuce & Domino were WWE Tag Team Champions. Hates honey, but loves honey mustard.
