Star Wars: 10 Best Pieces Of The Expanded Universe

4. The Force Unleashed

Set between Revenge Of The Sith and A New Hope, The Force Unleashed focused on the continued eradication of the Jedi at the hands of Vader and Palpatine, as well as the inception of the fledgling Rebel Alliance. Told through the eyes of Vader€™s secret apprentice, Starkiller (nod to Luke Skywalker€™s intended original surname), it begins the day Vader discovered Starkiller as a child and continues on along on a journey of murder, betrayal and ultimately, redemption. Starkiller is shown to be more than simply a dreaded Sith-in-training. It becomes apparent that in spite of his nefarious upbringing, that he has held on to the values that were instilled in him, even as a small child, by his parents who were also Jedi Knights, killed by Vader. His journey of self-discovery criss-crosses the galaxy, intertwining him in the lives of many other characters, including a young Princess Leia. It is here in fact that the seeds are set for the ultimate founding of the Rebel Alliance as Starkiller is someone for them to rally around and stand behind. Even the now familiar logo of the Rebel Alliance is taken from Starkiller - it was in fact his family crest, adopted by the Rebels. Sadly though, this is all now redundant - Starkiller and his story are now considered moot and will never be a part of Star Wars plans henceforth.

A self professed Stephen King/Star Wars geek and pop culture neophyte, Scott tends to spend much of his time alone pondering life's greatest mysteries.....he also depends heavily on his son Liam, a great sounding board, to set him straight on Star Wars issues and gives him advice on what EXACTLY he's doing wrong.
