Star Wars: 10 Coolest Moments in The Expanded Universe

1. Star Wars Clone Wars, Chapter 24, The Allegory

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=HQM2hp6SsVE#t=309s The anime version of Star War Clone Wars is not great TV. But it€™s still better than the prequels. The best moment is in the third season, chapter 24, at the 5:10 mark. Anakin has been sent alone on some sort of mission because his metal arm has cast him as a character in the local mythology. He then sees the story that gave birth to that mythology. A monster invaded a village on the planet one day. It attacked a woman, who ran to her husband and asked her to save him. He defeated that monster, but it cost him his arm. His wife made him a new arm, a more powerful arm, and he used its power to beat back all the invaders. But the power could not be controlled, and when there was no more to fight it turned on the man€™s comrades. It killed them all, finally killing his wife, and leaving him alone, howling. It€™s a great allegory, a pretty well animated piece, and it has more clarity of purpose and emotional resonance than the entire three movie journey of Anakin Skywalker. Now go read Matthew Stover novels. First Traior, then Shatterpoint, then Revenge of the Sith, then Luke Skywalker and the Shadows of Mindor. You will not regret it.
