Star Wars: 10 Fanfilms That Did It Way Better Than Lucas
7. One Season More
A part of me wants to see geekdom hit Broadway. No, I'm not talking about Spider-man: Turn Off the Dark because that's just wrong, and I've seen The Hobbit as a musical by community theater with a fat girl in sparkly spandex as Smaug, which made me twitch. I love parts of A Very Potter Musical, though, and I love Star Wars: The Musical. This song is very little more than the Star Wars equivalent of "Part of Your World." A bored child soliloquizes about how much life sucks in their small town to stirring music. I do have to give props to the creators for doing the whole thing in CGI. I also have to give major props to the people who did the music: first of all, the song's melody sounds a little bit like, dare I mention it, Princess Leia's closing song from the Star Wars Holiday Special. There are also musical cues from throughout the Original Trilogy. I like this video mostly because it's someone wishing for what we know is more than he will ever have bargained for. Luke just really wants to get out of Kansas and maybe see the bright lights of New York City, galactically speaking. He's not begging for a Sith father, a slightly-incestuous snogging from his unknown sister and his eventual hand-amputation. He's naive enough to think that anything different will be better and I want to pat him condescendingly on his too-dark hair.
