Star Wars: 10 Fanfilms That Did It Way Better Than Lucas
6. Padme
Juno is a funny-as-hell and moving film about teen pregnancy and coming of age, and luckily for all us Star Wars fans, someone has taken the time to channel that movie into the universe. Padme Amidala was not a dumb teenager, just a really dumb Senator who managed to get pregnant while wearing 50 petticoats and a corset and somehow being seduced by Hayden Christensen. Here's the crossed over version of how it happened. It's a very short fan film as far as they go, only clocking in at about four minutes, but it's a shot-for-shot trailer steal of Juno, so the brevity is sort of the point - and their reinterpretation of some of the movie's funniest things are great. Padme's "guardians" are played by Mace Windu and Obi-Wan Kenobi, a two-daddies scenario that I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy, and rather geniusly, "Ani Skywalker" is as awkward as Hayden plays him, but without asking us to take him seriously. The award for the best line of the whole thing can only go one way: "I'm already carrying the b*stard spawn of a Sith Lord who's betrayed the entire Republic. So, what other shenanigans can I get into?" And props must go to costuming for the maternity Vader Was Framed shirt. http://vimeo.com/37786576
