Star Wars: 10 Game-Changing Theories For Episode VIII

€œRey€ these are your first steps€ is the line uttered by Obi-Wan Kenobi in Rey€™s aforementioned lightsaber vision from The Force Awakens, as delivered - through the magic of audio editing - by a blend of Alec Guiness and Ewan McGregor. It seems clear, then, that Obi-Wan€™s Force ghost is still hanging around. Which means that an Episode VIII cameo isn€™t entirely out of the question.

Last seen at the end of Return Of The Jedi smiling on at the Rebels€™ success, Obi-Wan was the spiritual guide to Luke throughout the original movies. Even after his death, he€™d pop up and dispense wisdom and advice to help young Skywalker restore peace to the galaxy. It makes sense €“ now that evil has returned €“ that he€™d rematerialise and help out where he could.

Since it was revealed that Mr. McGregor recorded lines for The Force Awakens, rumours and theories that he€™d step into the role of Obi-Wan€™s Force ghost in Episode VIII have grown ever more persistent. Again, it€™d be a nice way to legitimise the prequels a bit by bringing one of their stars firmly into the fold of the new movies.

As to where he€™d fit in the story €“ Luke has clearly lost faith in his ability to train Jedi, so perhaps his old master will appear with some sage advice. Sounds believable, right?
