Star Wars: 10 Greatest Emperor Palpatine Moments

After Anakin informs Mace Windu of Chancellor Palpatine’s true identity as a Sith Lord, Mace assembles a crew of himself and three other council members intent on apprehending their new enemy. Upon arrival the Jedi draw their weapons, and announce their intent to arrest the dark lord.

Palpatine has devoted decades of planning and patience to his bid for supreme power, and won’t go quietly. He responds in a way which at the time would have been an exciting surprise for audiences. He releases a lightsaber from up his sleeve, stating, ‘It’s treason then.’ His red blade is ignited, and with a demonic battle cry he corkscrews through the air at great speed, within seconds killing the three highly experienced senior Jedi masters accompanying Mace.

Mace is now left to fight the Sith Lord alone.
