Star Wars: 10 Massive Plot Holes The Sequels Stupidly Created
8. Why Didn't Force Ghost Anakin Stop Kylo?
Despite his thirty year, erm, indiscretion, Return Of The Jedi clearly showed that Anakin Skywalker was able to materialise his spirit into a Force Ghost after death, even reverting back to his pre-turn to the Dark Side persona.
It makes absolutely no sense, then, that Anakin's Force Ghost stayed silent for years when his grandson Ben Solo started getting a bit too obsessed with his Dark Side persona, Darth Vader. After feeling genuine regret and remorse at the end of Return Of The Jedi, would Anakin really have just allowed to let his grandson follow him down the same path? After decades of suffering, did it not occur to him once to tell his grandson that turning yourself over completely to the Dark Side of the Force might not be the best idea?
Of course, this can be dismissed quite easily by the assumption that Palpatine prevented Anakin's Force Ghost from appearing to Kylo while acting as a voice inside his head, but similar problems pop out throughout the rest of the Sequel Trilogy.
Yoda finally turns up near the end of The Last Jedi to show Luke the error of his ways, telling his old student that maybe he should let go of the rigid old ways of the Jedi Order which inadvertently led to the rise of the Empire in the first place.
You'd think, though, that a Jedi as wise as Yoda was supposed to be would have thought of putting a word in before Luke started his Jedi Order -- especially when it became clear he was making exactly the same mistakes the Jedi of old had made.
