It might not get you any candy, but dressing up in a sick outfit a couple times a year to go to one of the many comic book/entertainment conventions can pay in bucketfuls of delicious attention. Pull off your disguise well and for just a moment, even if the moment is small, you will become the character you seek to embody and all the glory that is their's will fall majestically like the spotlight of the gods upon you. Got to be some allure in cosplay, right? Besides becoming characters that you either looked up to as fictional heroes or identified with for one reason or another, cosplay can be a lot of fun. Getting away with dressing up in public and not only getting away with it, but also having people think you're awesome for doing so is never a bad thing... Except when it is a bad thing. When it's so bad that even the other cosplayers around you just sort of smirk and shake their heads. Everyone who has ever been to a comic book convention knows the look. It's the sarcastic sneer that says, "Wow, that looks terrible." It's when certain cosplay becomes inappropiate even for the conventions. It's when it becomes embarrassing.
