Whether it's force choking your employees, slicing off the limbs of pub-goers or slaughtering dozens of children, it's safe to say that Star Wars doesn't shy away from some of the more darker sides to living in a galaxy far, far away.

Apart from Kylo Ren killing his dad in The Force Awakens, the sequels don't have many particularly notable dark moments and, for the most part, played the films pretty safe. But boy, Trevorrow's DOTF certainly would have changed that narrative. Here are just some of the darker moments the final film could have included:

Hux commits a Seppuku-style suicide: When The First Order falls at the hand of The Resistance, General Hux sees his failure as unforgivable and stabs himself with his decorative lightsaber.

Face Mutilations: When Kylo Ren finds the Sith Holocron, it explodes in a surge of red lightning and scars him badly causing him to make a new mask. In addition, Rey is horrifically blinded by Kylo Ren in the final battle.

General Darkness: Alien decapitations, sucking people's life force (more later) and the destruction of R2!
