9. A New Director
The announcement of JJ Abrams as the director at least of Episode 7 was an another fan splitting decision, but then again who as a director wouldn't have caused that. Not even Lucas himself would be saved from that black hole. However, the spin off films offer a new hope if Abrams isn't the Cameron to your Aliens. Each spin off, and let's face it there could be many on the horizon, offers a new face to cast their opinions of the galaxy far, far away and tell a new tale. In an interesting turn of events, Robert Rodriguez recently announced he was interested in doing a Han Solo movie before the idea of one even materialized, and as he is already mid way through filming the hotly anticipated sequel to Sin City, his hectic schedule is mostly watering down to projects. His way with action and humorous dialogue could be perfect for the fast-talking, fast-shooting smuggler. Whether a fresh face to Hollywood or an experienced film magician will take the reigns, or even the eager Rodriguez, remains to be seen.
