Star Wars: 10 Reasons The Prequel Trilogy Is Better Than You Remember

9. The Battles

Star Wars Episode I The Phantom Menace Obi-Wan Kenobi Darth Maul

Star Wars wouldn't really live up to its name without some large-scale battles, and the prequels aren't lacking here at all.

The Phantom Menace's Battle of Naboo features the Gungans luring the droid army away from Theed, Padme and her security infiltrating the palace, and a fresh-faced Anakin Skywalker showcasing his exceptional piloting skills as the starfighter pilots attempt to take out the Federation command ship. The battle stays tense throughout, and the Gungan's situation seems hopeless with no way of escape until the very last moment.

The battle of Geonosis is another tense affair, with the Jedi surrounded until Master Yoda swoops in with the brand new clone army to truly kick off the Clone Wars. Revenge of the Sith's opening sequence is superb as well, as the Republic attempt to board Grievous' command ship to rescue Palpatine. The battle is non-stop action and also demonstrates just how close Obi-Wan and Anakin have become. Obi-Wan willing to sacrifice himself for the mission and Anakin's refusal to abandon him brings an emotional edge to this space battle, making it one of the best in the franchise.

Craig Pollock hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
