Star Wars: 10 Secrets Of Mos Eisley Cantina You Need To Know

3. It Featured In An Anti-Drunk Driving PSA

Back in 1979, Star Wars was one of the hottest properties on the planet. A New Hope had dominated the box office, winning fans of all ages. It set the other movie studios in Hollywood scrambling to come up with their own sci-fi franchises, like a certain Paramount Pictures. Yet Star Wars quickly made the move to television.

Although, it's not entirely what you're thinking. No, it's not the god-awful Holiday Special. In 1979, Chalmun's Spaceport Cantina featured in a PSA about drinking while driving.

In the ad, there are many customers dotted throughout the bar when a Talz patron becomes inebriated. While the announcer describes the situation, a Doros patron offers to drive the Talz patron home. Together, they fly off in a YT-1300 Freighter.

Considering the number of children that came to the franchise thanks to the action of the first film, this ad was able to reach more of the youth of America than ever before - and it was all set in Chalmun's Spaceport Cantina!
