Star Wars: 10 Secrets Of The Jedi Temple You Need To Know
1. George Lucas Is In The Jedi Temple (Kind Of)
Until George Lucas cameoed as Baron Papadnoida in Revenge of the Sith, the legendary filmmaker had never made an appearance in the Star Wars series.
At least, not physically. In Attack of the Clones, Obi-Wan Kenobi heads to The Jedi Temple to find details about a planetary system called Kamino. After speaking to the Archives advisor, Obi-Wan is informed Kamino doesn't exist.
If you look closely in this scene, you will see the Archives are lined with bust statues. These busts, which were sculpted by Richard Miller, had their likeness based on members of the Star Wars staff, including the model supervisor, Brian Gernand, visual effects supervisors, John Knoll and Pablo Helman, and the animation director, Rob Coleman. It goes without saying that George Lucas's face was also used for one of the statues. (Although many people believe the Lucas statue is the one Obi-Wan is staring at in the beginning of the scene, this bust is modelled on Christopher Lee.)
The Lucas bust only appears for a few seconds so it's easy to miss, but die-hard fans appreciated this Easter egg.
