Now you know what went into the design of that legendary armour, it's time to talk about the in-canon secrets you never knew about these stormtrooper suits.

As difficult as it may be to believe after watching many a trooper get gunned down by Rebel scum, the white plates that make up the majority of their armour actually offered a decent amount of protection from blaster fire.

Now sure, if a soldier of the Empire found themselves being nailed with a direct shot, their demise was all but certain. But their armour possessed blast energy sinks which were actually capable of absorbing the average blast, meaning the damage inflicted was typically reduced as a result.

Hell, in Star Wars Rebels's "Stealth Strike" season two episode, one trooper even got thoroughly blasted by an E-11 medium blaster rifle and still kept on going.

Running wasn't all that easy in the suits, however, and attacks from things like massive pulse detonations and blunt weapons, like Chirrut Îmwe's uneti-wood staff in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, could still do some serious damage when wearing the plated-armour.

And did you know that the Empire actually monitored the helmet comms of their troopers at all times?

The Empire wanted to cut out idle chit-chat as much as humanly possible, so they would try and prevent it by reviewing their soldiers' conversations. It obviously didn't work all that well, though, as these troops still enjoyed a good natter every now and then, but it's still a bit disturbing to know they were being listened to whenever they put on that skull-met.
