6. Rogue Two
Many Bothans died to bring us this information, Mon Mothma tells the Rebels during Return Of The Jedi, referring to the plans of the second Death Star. Seeing as Rogue One is all set to tell us the story of the first Death Star plan theft, perhaps a sequel could show us what exactly happened to those Bothans when they landed the mission second time around. If Rogue One does well, this is - in a way - the perfect sequel. Similar plot beats could play out with new characters, and the stakes would be pretty high considering that many of the folk sent after the plans apparently wind up dead. The problem, of course, is whether there would be appetite for a second Death Star heist movie. Ive always wondered what exactly the Bothans were all about, though. Illustrations have suggested what they look like, but weve never been told why Bothans specifically got chosen for this mission. Some seem to think that theyre a race of naturally gifted spies, which could be an interesting route for a movie. To avoid re-treading Rogue One too much, perhaps a Bothans movie could take in a larger portion of the lives of these alien spies. Not just the Death Star, but their wider lives as expert infiltrators in the Star Wars galaxy. Maybe the troupe of Bothans could even be fun Guardians Of The Galaxy-alike characters?
