3. Everything That's The Old Republic Is New Again
http://youtu.be/Vg1gTas7OAA In the dark days following The Phantom Menace, Star Wars fans found solace in Knights Of The Old Republic. Bioware knows how to tell a story - and they delivered the goods with their introduction of The Old Republic era. Taking the setting back 3,000 years gave Bioware an empty playground full of toys to play with. Admittedly, every kind of established Star Wars character and trope - including plucky droids and Mandoloirans - showed up. Thanks to a branching narrative, their fate was often uncertain, giving players the chance to shape their own story. Even with the addition of several novels and the simply enormous amount of story content found in The Old Republic MMO, it's still a setting for fresh ideas and new possibilities. Bioware consistently creates complex characters and solid dialog. Their animated cut-scenes are bold, exciting, and very, very cinematic. After Squaresoft and Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within, I doubt Disney would give a 100 million dollars to a video game studio to make an animated feature, but Bioware could succeed where Squaresoft failed.
