Star Wars: 10 Things From Legends That Need To Be Made Canon

7. Durge

Durge is a bounty hunter, best-known for his appearance in Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Being a Gen-Dai, he is a biomass of nerve clusters who maintains a human structure by wearing armour. Because he has no single weakpoint, he is astoundingly difficult to kill, making him among the Jedi’s most resilient enemies.

Even though Star Wars is filled with countless creative aliens, Durge is one of the most unique. Because of his creepy appearance and inventive way of fighting, it’s baffling he’s never showed up beyond the Clone Wars cartoon.

Now, Durge has appeared in the 2020 comic, Doctor Aphra, meaning he has been incorporated into Star Wars canon. Unfortunately, this version has been revised so Durge bears no similarities to his former self, save for his appearance. Instead of being a shapeless mass contained in an armoured shell, this incarnation is a generic soldier. Although the original Durge thought instinctively like a wild beast, this version is articulate and intelligent.

This change is disappointing since Durge was scarier when he was a silent warrior who attacked out of instinct rather than duty. If he reappears in future projects, let's hope Disney use his original incarnation rather than the modern one.
