Star Wars: 10 Things The Last Jedi Has To Explain
7. Is Finn Actually Important?
FN-2187, dubbed 'Finn' by his man-crush Poe Dameron, turns up in the story of The Force Awakens from seemingly nowhere and does his best to contribute as little as possible beyond helping Dameron escape Kylo Ren's battlecruiser and give out some handy hints about the layout of Starkiller Base.
Whether Finn is just comic relief and a minor redemption story, or whether he has a more prominent part to play in the saga, is far from certain.
His injury at the end of The Force Awakens and his brief appearance in the trailer for The Last Jedi suggests he's going to wake up in the next film, but that event will have little impact if Finn isn't actually relevant to the story.
A snippet of dialogue from General Hux suggests Finn is one of the non-clone Stormtroopers, whose performance is compared critically with the clones. Is Finn part of a clone-related subplot? Is he some kind of Resistance sleeper agent? Or is he really just a lucky goofball?
