Star Wars: 10 Things You Learn Re-Watching Rogue One

8. CGI Grand Moff Tarkin Is Still VERY Distracting

Grand Moff Tarkin and his rivalry with Director Krennic are interesting throughout, but the CGI is extremely distracting and the film goes tumbling right into the dreaded uncanny valley whenever he's on-screen.

The big fanboy rage-inspiring moment from Rogue One when it came out, this CGI weirdness has not improved subsequently. It remains a misguided creative decision, though Guy Henry did an incredible job of mimicking Peter Cushing's voice and that should not be forgotten.

Additionally, the CGI appearance of Princess Leia at the end of the film is even more distracting, and leaves a terribly bitter taste coming right after that amazing Darth Vader scene. Hopefully the Star Wars team have learnt their lesson: CGI resurrections are a bad idea.
