General Grievous' past is a long and complex one, characterised by war, tragedy and rage.

Born Qymean jai Sheelal on the planet Kalee, Grievous was a reptilian humanoid who was brought up by the indigenous Kaleesh to be a great warrior who would help his people in the fight against their greatest enemies, the insect-like invaders the Yam'rii of the planet Huk.

Grievous proved himself at a young age, and according to legend raked up such a body count against the Yam'rii that he was viewed almost as a god by his people.

It was during this period, when he made his way through the ranks of his fellow warriors, that Grievous grew to hate the Republic, who supported his enemies and saw the Kaleesh as nothing more than uncivilised savages. With hatred for the Republic also came disgust toward the Jedi, whose Force abilities made Grevious both envious and enraged.

It wouldn't be long until his rage was put to use by the Separatists, but until then he was left on Kalee to fight a war which had no end in sight.
