8. Falling In Love & Becoming Grievous

General Grievous Facts
Lucasfilm

During the Kalee-Huk war, Grievous met fellow warrior Ronderu Kammur, with whom he formed a strong bond. The deadly pair joined forces in their crusade against the Yam'rii, and according to the Legends continuity they fell in love, with Grievous even considering her his soulmate.

Together, the duo were known for their ruthless battle tactics, but their time together was cut short when Kammur was killed in battle. Her body was lost to the sea, and Grievous was thrown into a rage-fuelled depression when he couldn't retrieve her body for a proper Kaleesh burial.

According to Legends, it was here the future Separatist leader changed his name to Grievous, as way of grieving Kammur for the rest of his life, and as punishment for not finding her body.

Tragic as it was for Grievous to face such a loss, his despair and anger only made him a more vicious warrior and tactician, and he continued the fight against the Yam'rii filled with more determination and obsession than ever.
