Obi-Wan Kenobi is not only one of the Star Wars saga's most beloved characters, he was indeed one of its wisest and most honourable.

In the prequel trilogy, we are introduced to the soon-to-be Jedi Knight (portrayed by Ewan McGregor) in his final days as Qui-Gon Jinn's Padawan. Together they discovered the "Chosen One" in young slave, Anakin Skywalker. After his mentor's death, Obi-Wan took Anakin under his wing until his apprentice turned to the Dark Side, leading to a volcanic showdown on Mustafar and the Great Jedi Purge.

Before the Galactic Civil War, Kenobi (played by Sir Alec Guinness), adopted the name "Ben", went into exile to avoid detection from the Empire and to protect his former student's secret son, Luke Skywalker. The Jedi Master mentored him in the ways of the Force and eventually sacrificed himself in order for Luke and his friends to escape the Death Star.

Casual fans may be unaware of Kenobi's layered backstory, however, which fills the gaps from the beginning to the middle of Star Wars' first six films. In various canon cartoons, novels and comics, questions are answered and intriguing revelations are disclosed about this legendary Jedi Knight...

10. Duchess Satine Had A Undying Love For Him

It is commonly known that the Jedi are forbidden from attaching themselves and marrying. This measure is put in place to avoid the risk of them straying away to the Dark Side because of jealously or fear of loss that could occur. Case in point: Anakin Skywalker.

This code proved a challenge for Obi-Wan, especially when it came to his relationship with Duchess Satine Kryze. The two first met whilst he was a Padawan, as he and his Master, Qui-Gon Jinn, were assigned to project the Duchess from insurgent bounty hunters on Mandalore. Over the years, Kenobi and Kryze developed strong feelings for each other.

The force of love was so strong in fact that Obi-Wan openly confessed that he “would have left the Jedi Order” if she had said the word. Their fondness was no secret either. In the episode, Voyage of Temptation, Anakin even jested with his Master to “go find your girlfriend.”

Even though she perished at the hands of the Darth Maul’s Darksaber as an act of revenge, her love for Kenobi would be everlasting. As she laid dying in his arms, Satine uttered with her final breath "Remember my dear Obi-Wan, I loved you always. I always will."
