And finally, Lucasfilm could improve the prequel trilogy in a huge way by tying in Andy Serkis Supreme Leader Snoke to a wider story that links back to Revenge Of The Sith and the history of the Star Wars universe. In Episode III, Palpatine spoke of Darth Plagueis the wise, a powerful Sith Lord who could hold off death and keep his loved ones alive using the Dark Side of the Force. Within Palpatines story, Plagueis was killed by his pupil (strongly implied to be Palpatine himself) in his sleep. But what if that wasnt in fact the whole story? What if Plagueis survived using his Dark Side powers, hid in the shadows for generations before returning to power after Sidious death as First Order overseer Snoke? Its a reveal that lots of fans have already predicted, but that wouldnt make it any less awesome. Making this Snoke-is-Plagueis theory canon would serve as an overarching narrative tying all three trilogies closer together. Itd also prove how much Lucasfilm still value the prequels, in a theres lots of sh*t in there, but this one idea was excellent kind of way. It would legitimise Revenge Of The Sith, and go some way to making the prequels more watchable. Surely, many fans would go back through these old films and view them with new eyes in the knowledge that their was a wider narrative at play the whole time that we didnt previously know about. Perhaps this will be revealed in Episode VIII How would you like the new Star Wars movies to address, improve upon and legitimise the prequels? Tell us in the comments
