Star Wars: 15 Show-Stealing Side Characters Who Shaped The Galaxy

From a certain point of view, young Padawan Obi-Wan Kenobi would be thrust into the most crucial moment of galactic history. When fans are "first" introduced to Kenobi, he's still under the tutelage of his sometimes renegade master Qui-Gon Jinn; a Jedi that has a proficiency for operating on the fringes of the Jedi Order.

Kenobi would eventually inherit the responsibility of training young Anakin Skywalker at the beast of his master during his final moments. From there, the bottom falls out for Kenobi and his fate is sealed. Ultimately responsible for the mechanization of Darth Vader, Kenobi would then go into hiding while watching over Anakin's son, Luke, on the desert planet Tatooine, waiting once again for destiny to come calling.

Shaping The Franchise

Obi-Wan Kenobi has the distinction of taking on two forms within the Star Wars galaxy. In the original trilogy, Kenobi is a wise old wizard, living on the fringes of society, once a warrior in the ranks of the now extinct Jedi Order. Kenobi then teaches a young Luke his first lessons about the Force before sacrificing himself and guiding Luke from another plane.

The second, and arguably more well known presentation of the character, would be re-imagined in the prequel trilogy. Fans would see Kenobi rise through the Jedi ranks as a Padawan learner, to a Jedi Knight, to a Master on the council. This version of Kenobi would play a key role in the Clone Wars conflict, the rise of the Empire, and the eventual fall of Anakin Skywalker.

While not the most powerful Jedi to live, Kenobi played the most pivotal role in galactic history.
