10. Lando Calrissian Was Originally Very Different

One of the more significant changes from earlier versions of the film is the depiction of Lando Calrissian (Billy Dee Williams).

For starters, his original name was the decidedly less catchy "Lando Kadar," and during a story conference he was considered to be a suave, James Bond-esque character.

But when it actually came to putting pen to paper, earlier drafts depicted Lando as a clone who survived the Clone Wars and led fellow clones to start their own settlement. Another backstory depicted him as a descendent of survivors of the Clone Wars, part of a family who reproduced by cloning.

Needless to say, they made some good changes here.
