20. The Entire Star Wars Expanded Universe
It's an act of callous cruelty (not to mention a hypocritical one as well) to include the Expanded Universe on this list, but truth often demands a pound of flesh. How is the beloved by almost all Star Wars fans Expanded Universe a sign that Lucas sold out? For the same reason that he allowed these thousands of other contributors to add to his creation in video games, comics, and books. He made a lot of money off it. Every piece of story and character that got added to the Expanded Universe had to have some approval from the top, where Lucas would continue to collect a tribute on it forever or until he sold the rights. A perfect example of this is the novel Death Troopers. Why would Lucas allow a horror novel about zombie stormtroopers to exist as a part of his for-the-children story based sci-fi universe? Because zombies are trendy and LucasFilm LTD knew it would sell copies.
