5. Darth Vader
This will happen sooner or later, so let's face it. And I can actually welcome this depending on how it's done. Because there is room in this post-prequels world to actually use Vader as a real and emotive character. Think back to the pathos that we all felt during his chamber scenes in Empire or the set of duels he had with Luke. There was real emotion and passion up there on the screen. The problem is that the prequels had a distinct failure to understand the idea: that Vader is part of the Star Wars Expanded Universe. The novelised Revenge Of The Sith is a tasteful tale of Anakin's fall (and free from bad acting and awkward dialogue). The follow up, Dark Lord: The Rise of Darth Vader, written by James Luceno, would be the best outcome if Disney do green-light a movie about Vader. Dark Lord takes place in the immediate aftermath of the events in Sith, and focuses on Darth Vader and his rise to power in the newly-inaugurated Galactic Empire. Why Make It? Luceno devotes much of Dark Lord to the internal conflict that Darth Vader undergoes as he tries to shed his former identity of Anakin Skywalker and as he relearns to master the Force. There are some nice connections that could link up with the other films in a Marvel post-credit style.
