Star Wars: 5 More Expanded Universe Stories We Want On The Big Screen

2. Kyle Katarn

Kylekatarn_jasoncourt Kyle Katarn is the prototype Expanded Universe hero. He was an Imperial stormtrooper who defected to the Rebellion. Katarn was informed of his Force sensitivity, and taught himself to become a Jedi while in search of the Valley of the Jedi. During this journey, he confronted the dark side within both himself and in the form of the Dark Jedi Jerec and his minions. Defeating them, Katarn went on to become a Jedi Master, teaching at the Jedi Praxeum and became a part of the Jedi High Council in the New Jedi Order. In other words, he is a big deal. The problem is that this is really far removed from the comfort zone of most casual fans. There are elements that look familiar in the story, such as lightsabers, stormtroopers and other Imperial trappings for the bad guys. Overall, this would be something completely new for most. Why Make It? There is too much here to ignore from both a canonical and storyline angle. Katarn has appeared in numerous novels, and a lot of video games. He is even tied into the latest Fate of the Jedi series of novels. If Disney wish to swim in these waters they will need to address this as a huge part of their world. Besides, like Force Unleashed, Dark Force 2 has done all the hard work. Just make that into a film, to be honest.
