Star Wars: 5 Outrageous Internet Flame Wars

1. Anakin Skywalker Vs Darth Vader

anakin skywalker Surprisingly one of the most heated debates on the internet involves the character of Anakin Skywalker and whether or not he should have a separate page on Wikipedia to Darth Vader. For a long time the two characters had their own pages. Vader had had his own for years for obvious reasons and when the prequels hit the cinema and became part of the canon a page was created for little Annie (not the ginger orphan girl). It made sense we're sure you'll agree. However for many purists out there this was an almighty slap in the face. You might as well have walked up to their mother's and poked her in the eye, it would probably have had less of an angry response. Likewise the fans who believed the two characters are so different they SHOULD have a separate page each had as strong a reaction. It was like nothing the internet had ever seen before - a battle that even George Lucas could not have dreamed up. Here's an example of one side of the argument:
"For all of you who say keep separate, because they are two separate characters, then split the Anakin's article into 'Young Anakin Skywalker', 'Padawan Anakin Skywalker', 'General Skywalker', 'Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker', 'Darth Vader Pre-Armour' etc. etc. It's an all or nothing argument. Either make many articles on the different variations of the character , or do what the Wookieepedia has done and make it ONE FREAKIN' ARTICLE! It's not that hard to figure out"
You have to admit this poster makes a valid point. Despite the above quote making more sense than most of the counter arguments out there there are still fans sat at their computers debating this very subject. You have to wonder how many of them have girlfriends. We jest of course with our portrayals of the Star Wars fans (we're all fans ourselves don't forget) but you have to wonder where these arguments will stop and just what new debates will arise as a result of the upcoming new Star Wars movies. We actively encourage you all to debate these subjects and more in the comments section below. Don't be shy, let us know which side of the fence you are sitting on.
