Star Wars: 50 Greatest Moments - Ranked

42. Force Connection (The Last Jedi)

The Last Jedi Kylo Ren Ben Swolo
Lucasfilm

Rian Johnson introduced a number of new elements into the Star Wars universe in The Last Jedi, and one of the most successful was the Force connection between Rey and Kylo Ren, which took place in a vacuum of sound and really got into the heads of the two fledgeling Force-users.

More a series of moments from across the movie really, they wonderfully deepen the strange relationship between the two characters, and you get an incredible sense for the confusion and desire for belonging both feel.

Picking just one, well it’s obviously Ben Swolo, but really the best is the one where they touch hands and Luke discovers them. It’s about as sexually charged as Star Wars gets, with both Daisy Ridley and Adam Driver selling their mutual longing, not in a romantic sense necessarily, but just for someone who understands what they’re going through.
