36. Battle Of Scarif (Rogue One)

There's a lot in the Battle of Scarif, the movie ending fight in Rogue One, that seems familiar, as X-wings fly into battle in one hell of a dogfight.

It stands apart, though, thanks to the technical brilliance of Gareth Edwards and DP Greig Fraser, which gives it a true sense of beauty, and for a few new flourishes that make something we've seen countless times feel fresh and unique.

The setting is an obvious one, with the majestic sight of AT-ACT walkers on the beach and the rebels running to fight them, X-wings bouncing off the forcefield, and the tragedy of the doomed heroes. Standing out among the wreckage, though, has to be the sight of two Star Destroyers colliding in mid-air, a genius twist on the Imperial crafts that is both amusing and stunning.
