Star Wars: 50 Greatest Moments - Ranked

37. The Arena (Attack Of The Clones)

Attack of the Clones is arguably the worst film in the entire saga, though it often gets something of a pass due to how maligned The Phantom Menace is. In amongst the awful CGI and tonal issues, though, there are some purely Star Wars beats, including this one.

Padme and Anakin didn't exactly have a relationship full of chemistry, to put it lightly, but them declaring their love before being led into the arena, where they're supposed to die in front of an expectant crowd, is as good as it gets.

It's elevated further once the action kicks in, with Padme steps ahead of everyone else, and literally getting on top of things. From there the excitement ramps up and the Jedi arrive, giving us a moment that combines cinematic grandeur with key character moments, lightsaber action, and well-timed humour.
