Star Wars: 50 Greatest Moments - Ranked

10. Opening Crawl And Neverending Star Destroyer (Star Wars)

Star Wars wasn't the first movie to open with some expository text, and it certainly hasn't been the last - but it is the most famous, and the best use of it.

The opening crawl, after the score kicks in, is a great introduction to this world, outlining enough of what is happening in the galaxy and offering up plenty of intrigue and excitement for what's to come.

Even better, though, is when we finally get into the movie, and the very first shot in the saga is of a Rebel spaceship, followed by a Star Destroyer. A Star Destroyer that just. Never. Ends. It perfectly highlights the scale of the battle and the difference between the two sides, and is one of the greatest shots in all of Star Wars.
