Star Wars 7: 6 Perfect Casting Rumours (And Who They Could Play)

4. Gary Oldman As Corran Horn

It shouldn€™t be surprise that franchise captivating guru Gary Oldman has also been thrown into the rumor mill that has been Star Wars Episode VII. Oldman has been a part of some of the biggest franchises in the past decade from Harry Potter to Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy. It should come as no surprise that while promoting the 2014 reboot of RoboCop, Oldman mentioned that Disney had contacted him about a possible role in the new film. Oldman hinted that they had only called him and he hadn't had any one-on-one talks about a role. Corran Horn is a classic Star Wars character that has been floating around the EU for nearly 20-years. Author Michael A. Stackpole first introduced Horn in the classic novel run known as the X-Wing franchise. The X-Wing franchise would go on to tell the riveting stories of the men of Rouge Squadron during the adventures against the Empire. Horn would eventually inherit the role of the flight leader of the group after Luke Skywalker and Wedge Antilles. Horn would also eventually learn that he was Force sensitive and eventually go on to join Luke Skywalker's Jedi academy becoming one of the key members of the newly established Jedi Council. Oldman would play an excellent older version of the traditionally depicted young character. Horn travels a very similar path to that of Luke Skywalker during the years when the Rebellion fought the Empire much the same way that Dash Rendar had commonalities to Han Solo. Horn is roughly the same age as Luke so seeing the two interact as war tested soldiers and Jedi would be something that fans would eat up.
